So far my college experience as a freshman has gotten off to a good start. I am getting to know new people in my life. My classes so far have been going great with out any problems. But there is one issue that seems to bother me in my college experience. The issue is the commuting from home which takes 45 minutes of driving to get their. I put in 1 hour and 30 minutes everyday to and from Turlock. Waking up early in the morning and driving long distances also isn't the most compelling thing. I have classes 5 days a week which doesn't make my commute any better. Some people love to drive and don't mind the long drives, but in my opinion driving over long distances gets to repetitive and boring. After a month of commuting I've reached a point to where just having to drive bothers me. This isn't even the worst part. The worst part is how much fuel is spent everyday commuting. I’ve done the math and I approximately spend a 50 bucks a week on gas alone. To combat this problem, I plan on getting myself a hybrid car such as a Toyota Prius, Chevy volt, or the spark. These cars will allow me to save a whole lot on gas.
Know you might be asking yourself, “Why don’t you live on campus or move closer?” Well first of all living on campus would cost me a fortune. I don't have that type of money to be able to afford living on the campus. Another reason is that I personally don't want to move away from my family and friends. I understand what position I've put myself in and the only choice is to deal with it and hopefully in the near future I will come up with a solution.

One of the dangerous sports to play today is American football. It is America’s number 1 sport played in the country. Football is a very physical sport that involves players colliding together at high speeds. These collision puts every player at risk each time they are on the field. Common injuries include sprains, strains, fractures, and dislocations. Not just in games do they occur, but also in practice which puts players in greater risk of injury. Football not only has physical risk but also mental illnesses. Concussions are a growing concern, as it puts the player in a greater chance of getting mental illnesses. Safety steps are taken to protect the player from these injuries. Players are enforced to wear protective gear such as body pads and a helmet. They lower the risk of an injury but do not completely erase it.

Many of those players that decide to play football is for their passion for the game. They know the risks being taken to be out there on the field to compete. These risk can even stay and effect you once you get older. Every year new rules are passed to increase the level of safety for each player on the field. Study shows that retired NFL players have higher frequency of headaches and migraines. Rather it be on the high school, college or the professional level, the risks is all the same. So the next time you decide to pick up a football know the risks that come with playing the game.

One of the most daily used machines by people are Automobiles. They are found every and anywhere in the world. Automobiles are a big part of what most American people use as a system of transportation to get around. Automobiles are the number one used transportation system in the United States. They help us get around faster than walking or riding a bike. With the many advantages of driving a car, it also comes with potential danger if not careful. According to the “National Safety Council,” 38,300 people were killed and 4.4 million injured on U.S. roads in 2015 alone. It was the highest death total in a year since 2007 where the number recorded was 44,000.

To be a safe driver starts with putting on your seat belt the moment you get in the car. Seatbelts have been proven to save countless lives every year in which involves deadly crashes.  Once you get on the road you have to pay careful attention to your surroundings. Always check your mirrors every 15 to 20 seconds to know where cars are around you. Driving the speed limit also reduces the chances of a person getting into an accident. Driving while your attention is focused elsewhere is another factor that can be found in an accident. Those factors include texting, talking to the person next to you, or falling asleep on the wheel. Remember, being a safe driver benefits you and other drivers around you on the road.
