Week 11 of the NFl season was another memorable week to remember. There was many upset game that highlighted the week. First of the Washington Redskins were able to upset the Green Bay Packers. It was a back and forth game most of the game until the end. The Redskins ran away by scoring 3 touchdowns in the final quarter. With this loss, the Packer are now 4-6, the worst record the Packers had in a Decade. It also knocks them out of playoff contention. While the packers are struggling, the Dallas Cowboys keep rolling. They won this week against the Ravens with the score of 27-17. This makes it 9 straight wins putting their record at 9-1, the best record in the NFL. Once again the two rookies Dak and Ezekiel, played another incredible game. The patriots coming off a loss against the Seahawks, won their game against the 49ers on Sunday afternoon. Tom Brady had 4 touchdowns to lead the patriots with Gronk out of the line up. Colin Kaepernick had a solid game, but it wasn't enough to overcome the patriots. Over all this week was an entertainment filled week, with many good games played. The NFL playoffs are now only a few weeks away. I have my money on the New England Patriots to win it all come February. Who’s your bet to win it all?

Week 10 of the NFL season was  full of memorable games and moments. Let's start with the New Orleans Saints versus the Denver Broncos. It was a back and forth game between the two teams. It all came down to a the extra point try in the last seconds of the game. After the Saints trailing by 6, they scored a touchdown to even it out at 23. The extra point was suppose to be the winner for the saints until it was blocked. The broncos took it back home for 2 points. They ended up winning 25-23. Another exciting game was the Dallas Cowboys going up against the Pittsburgh Steelers. It was also another back and forth game where it went down to the wire. There were 7 lead changes in the game. The steelers ended up losing 35-30 in the final seconds. With 15 seconds left Elliott ran down the middle for a score with them trailing 28-35. Dak Prescott had 2 touchdown passes, while Elliott had 3 total TD’s. Prescott and Elliott are both rookies and playing like they are super stars. The Cowboy's wouldn't be 8-1 without them two playing at a high level. The final game was between the Patriots and Seahawks. It's their first time going up against each other since the infamous super bowl 49. The Seahawks ended up getting their long awaited revenge. But I believe that they got away with a foul in the last play that the patriots could had potentially tied the game. Overall week 10 was a full of fun and exciting games played.

Old vs. New Generation of Call of Duty

Call of Duty is one of the biggest games in the history of video games. It has sold millions of copies around the world. No other games stands a chance  going against Call of duty head to head in sales. But over they years the Call of duty franchise has been dying down. Year after year the same game gets recycled into a “new” game, which basically is a reskin of the old game. In all,  their has been 8 call of duty games in total. Each of those games are very similar to how they run. It all started back in 2007 with the release of Call of Duty Modern Warfare. That game is praised to be the best Call of duty game ever made among the fan base. The Call of Duty games were like able until the release of Advanced Warfare. The addition of the jet pack movement in my opinion was the game's downfall. It didn't feel like a call of duty game to many people. Call of duty was meant to be played as a run and gun game, not a jump and gun. The decline of sales proves that how this new system of playing has hurt the franchise. This years Call of Duty Infinite warfare did not change a thing. The fanbase has been asking for a boots on the ground, but instead they got the opposite. To make them happy they decided to remaster Modern Warfare, a 10 year old game that came out in 2007. For the most part this strategy did make many people happy for the time being.

So to continue from lasts week blog on my sports intramural's league. We won this past week's game which was our first actual game that counts toward our record. We played a team called “Techs R Us,” who weren't that bad of a team. The where made out of mostly older people which gave us an advantage. We were able to outrun them and tired them out as the game went along. The final score ended up to be 56-33. It was close in the beginning but as the game went on we increased our lead. I finished with 8 points. My goal for every game is to get at least 10 points a game. My stamina is starting to built and get better. I'm not where I need to be just yet, but hopefully in a couple weeks I will. Stamina is important in being able to play basketball at a high level. Basketball is a fast paced game where you need to run up and down the court. Without some kind of stamina, you won't be able to keep up. Our first game we only had 6 players available. We got tired out quick because of the lack of available substitutes, which I believe is the reason we lost. But this time around we had a total of 10 players available to play. We were able to pick up 4 other players before Wednesday. Hopefully we will be able to win this week's game and go undefeated on the season.

Throughout my highschool years, I always played sports such as tennis and basketball. Before attending college I was worried about not being active in playing sports. In stanislaus they offer a program called Sport Intramurals for its students. To join it costs 20 bucks per semester to join, which isn't a bad deal at all. We get access to sports such as basketball, flag football, and soccer. I was glad when I found about sport intramurals from a friend of mine. I immediate decided to join and play basketball. I joined a team called “Warriors,” which was awkward because I didn't know anyone on that team. We had our first game as a team on wednesday of last week. We lost to a score of 48-52 to a team called“Who do you know.” We started off the game on a good note leading by 20 points. But as the game went on, that lead decreased and eventually we saw ourselves falling behind. We made a good push in the end to make it close, but we weren't able to win in the end. I myself had a pretty good game finishing with 17 points. The only think I need to work on is my stamina. Right now i’m really out of shape and need to get back to basketball form. As fun it is being able to play basketball again, I won't be neglecting my school work. I made a promise to myself that taking care of school will always be my number 1 priority in college.

I am currently undecided into what to major in. I have been thinking long and hard in what I want to do for my career. Two months into college and I'm still getting ideas. My plan is to find a major before the second semester starts so I could get working on it. Also I don't want to be behind in my classes while I take my time deciding what to major in. I’ve had many ideas on what i would major in, but in the end I knew they weren't for me. The first major I thought about was majoring in criminal justice. What influenced me was that I recently had a cousin graduate from a training program for becoming a correctional officer. But after talking to him about his on the job experience I decided that it wasn’t for me. He described how stressful it is dealing with rude and disrespectful inmates. The second was majoring in business management. After doing some research and learning the skills needed for the job, I decided not to. I Know my strengths and weakness and the skills needed for management did not match up. My mother has been pushing me to study and become a Xray technologist. Becoming a Xray tech is something that interests me but hesitant in doing. I need to do more research into it before deciding to major in it. Doing research before choosing a major in my opinion is crucial before deciding. It gives an idea of what classes to take and the road to getting their.

I have been enjoying the group discussions that are taking place in our English class. I like how we discuss varies essays and topics as a class. The discussions gives as a chance to speak our mind of what we personally think about the topic being discussed. We can also relate to what is being said through our own experiences. This is a great opportunity to learn about our classmates and the opinions they have on the topic. We can agree with what they said or disagree with what a person said in a friendly matter. It is a great way to get new ideas and to enhance your thinking. We have discussed many topics and I just like how everyone is speaking their mind without any judgement taking place. The discussions are taking place in a good and healthy environment where everyone can voice what they think. But only a few selected students take part in the discussions. I encourage anyone to speak up if anything comes to mind or you're itching to add an idea to the discussion. This can be a great opportunity to be part of the discussion and not an outsider. I understand that not everyone can relate or has anything to say, but we should make the effort to be part of the discussions. I myself try my best to say or add something to the discussion when the best time arises. Remember, part of our group discussion grade is audience participation so help out your fellow classmates by participating!

I always been asking myself how just how high school differs from college while in high school. My brother, who is attending UC Merced helped with answering any question I had about what to expect in Universities and the challenges that I will face. But experiencing college on my own really gave me a glimpse of how it really is. I thought to myself that both high school and college must be about the same. But now that I'm a college student, I now know just how different both are. The environment of college is drastically different from high school. In college you have many different people coming from all over the place, while in high school people come from local areas. You also get to know a lot more people in high school after attending for 4 years. You might also know people in middle school before becoming a high school student. As a freshman coming in to Stanislaus State, I didn't know anyone. It was like a new world to get used to and meeting new people along the way.

Another way that they are different is that in college you are more on your own. I no longer having someone holding my hand along the way like they did high school. You have to mature in the decisions you make and to learn how to more independent in college. This isn't a bad thing since it's teaching us how to become adults in order to be ready to join the real world. So far I’ve been enjoying my time as a college student and I look forward to the new challenges that await me.

So far my college experience as a freshman has gotten off to a good start. I am getting to know new people in my life. My classes so far have been going great with out any problems. But there is one issue that seems to bother me in my college experience. The issue is the commuting from home which takes 45 minutes of driving to get their. I put in 1 hour and 30 minutes everyday to and from Turlock. Waking up early in the morning and driving long distances also isn't the most compelling thing. I have classes 5 days a week which doesn't make my commute any better. Some people love to drive and don't mind the long drives, but in my opinion driving over long distances gets to repetitive and boring. After a month of commuting I've reached a point to where just having to drive bothers me. This isn't even the worst part. The worst part is how much fuel is spent everyday commuting. I’ve done the math and I approximately spend a 50 bucks a week on gas alone. To combat this problem, I plan on getting myself a hybrid car such as a Toyota Prius, Chevy volt, or the spark. These cars will allow me to save a whole lot on gas.
Know you might be asking yourself, “Why don’t you live on campus or move closer?” Well first of all living on campus would cost me a fortune. I don't have that type of money to be able to afford living on the campus. Another reason is that I personally don't want to move away from my family and friends. I understand what position I've put myself in and the only choice is to deal with it and hopefully in the near future I will come up with a solution.

One of the dangerous sports to play today is American football. It is America’s number 1 sport played in the country. Football is a very physical sport that involves players colliding together at high speeds. These collision puts every player at risk each time they are on the field. Common injuries include sprains, strains, fractures, and dislocations. Not just in games do they occur, but also in practice which puts players in greater risk of injury. Football not only has physical risk but also mental illnesses. Concussions are a growing concern, as it puts the player in a greater chance of getting mental illnesses. Safety steps are taken to protect the player from these injuries. Players are enforced to wear protective gear such as body pads and a helmet. They lower the risk of an injury but do not completely erase it.

Many of those players that decide to play football is for their passion for the game. They know the risks being taken to be out there on the field to compete. These risk can even stay and effect you once you get older. Every year new rules are passed to increase the level of safety for each player on the field. Study shows that retired NFL players have higher frequency of headaches and migraines. Rather it be on the high school, college or the professional level, the risks is all the same. So the next time you decide to pick up a football know the risks that come with playing the game.

One of the most daily used machines by people are Automobiles. They are found every and anywhere in the world. Automobiles are a big part of what most American people use as a system of transportation to get around. Automobiles are the number one used transportation system in the United States. They help us get around faster than walking or riding a bike. With the many advantages of driving a car, it also comes with potential danger if not careful. According to the “National Safety Council,” 38,300 people were killed and 4.4 million injured on U.S. roads in 2015 alone. It was the highest death total in a year since 2007 where the number recorded was 44,000.

To be a safe driver starts with putting on your seat belt the moment you get in the car. Seatbelts have been proven to save countless lives every year in which involves deadly crashes.  Once you get on the road you have to pay careful attention to your surroundings. Always check your mirrors every 15 to 20 seconds to know where cars are around you. Driving the speed limit also reduces the chances of a person getting into an accident. Driving while your attention is focused elsewhere is another factor that can be found in an accident. Those factors include texting, talking to the person next to you, or falling asleep on the wheel. Remember, being a safe driver benefits you and other drivers around you on the road.
